Forged in the pits of hell (well at least those below the once beautiful gardens of Isengard) this ugly blade was created for one purpose (to kill) by the Orcs working with Saruman, who orders the destruction of the forests surrounding Isengard to build weapons of war and create an elite Orc army called the Uruk-hai.

If you are asking yourself 'Who's Gimli?' Give yerself an uppercut will ya. He's the short hairy fella from Lord of the Rings. You might recall these movies from a few years ago, they did sort place NZ on the map for a while. Gimli (portrayed by John Rhys-Davies) is a dwarf who joins the Fellowship and over the course of the three movies provides some classic light hearted moments.

The Scorpion King was the spin off movie from the Mummy series staring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnston in the title role. Here is the stunning and unique blade old Dwayne uses to forge a nation. Lets not forget the scantily clad ladies that ran about in the movie either!

Today is a good day to die......if the heart of a Klingon Warrior beats within you, you need one of these fine weapons. Star Trek has been around almost as long as I have and continues to put forth good characters and ideas. The Klingon Bathleth is simply one such item.
Kahless a messianic figure in Klingon history, unified the Klingon people and became the first Klingon emperor. The Klingon's most important symbol of leadership, Kahless said that Klingons should fight not just to shed blood, but to enrich the spirit.Kahless united the empire some 1,500 years ago after fighting and killing the tyrant Molor with the first bat’leth, or “Sword of Honor.” He fashioned the sword with his own hands, by dropping a lock of his hair into the lava from the Kris’tak Volcano and twisting it into a blade.

The bat'leth is the Klingon longsword, designed by martial arts enthusiast and Star Trek: The Next Generation effects producer Dan Curry. Oh and its quite a sight to look at.

Ah Sunday afternoons, sitting inside watching the classic Ray Harryhausen movies on TV with Jason and his men facing off against monsters like the Skeleton Army, Giant Scorpions, and Cyclops..... thems were the days!! And all this before the invention of CGI, so Stop Motion was the King of SFX. Oh you can say we have come a long way since those days but in reality, I feel the audience was more involved back them and the emotional payoff was higher too. You have no idea what I am on about do you? Never mind, just look at the friggen sword then and imagine yourself swinging it round in your bedroom carving off chunks of light fittings and leaving gouges in the walls.

"My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next." And so with these words Maximus moves into Cinematic history taking a good old Kiwi lad with him. Such a nice blade to recall what was truly a great movie.

OK so I will fess up straight away and say that this is not an exact replica of the sword used in the TV series, but its as close as I could find to it that came without an outrageous price tag.
Regardless this is a really sweet blade that looks fine and would grace the wall of any serious sword collector with ease.

Based on the 2004 film by Wolfgang Petersen, this is the sword that legend has it will ensure Troy has a future as long as it remains in the hands of a Trojan. Clearly someone let go of it as the Trojans are no longer a nation and have been moved into the realms of history and legend. Never mind this is a sweeeet looking sword.

OK so I have to admit that as the uninteresting half of 'Bradgelina' Mr Pitt has it tough, and i also have to admit he did a fairly good job of getting in shape for this film (unless it was all CGI?). His fight scene were pretty decent as well with the battle between him and Eric Bana being right up there, despite my waiting for Eric to go all "angry green HULK" on his wimpy ass.

From the 2004 film by Wolfgang Petersen. Staring Eric Bana as the long suffering brother of an oddly ineffective Orlando Bloom character Paris. Still had some nice fighting scenes and the wife liked Brad Whats-is-name.

If your holding a sword in your right hand, you really owe it to yourself and your soft bits, to have one of these in your left. You see in times past if you had a sword in your hand that meant that there was likely to be someone else nearby with one in his hand. The idea being that he wanted to stick the sharp end of his sword into you before you got to do the same to him. The shield definitely comes in handy at times like these.....
